What is the best motor scooter for an 8 mile commute each way to work each day?
I’ve been looking at Yamaha Vino’s and Honda Metropolotan’s, I like the way they look and they sound easy to maintain. Im looking at scooter’s with 50cc’s being that I don’t want to go faster than 40mph with nothing covering me on my sides and goodness forbid… I like lot’s of storage, im aprox 125lb’s (if it matter’s), I need really good break’s on whatever suggested and im getting my motorcycle license in the next two month’s, being that I have heard to be street legal you need one in general. Im basically looking for a cheap commute, self maintained, starting scooter. Thank’s to all who give an opinion!
If you “like lot’s of storage” you want the Yamaha C3.
But I have to agree with the “don’t get a 50cc.” I don’t know where you live, but here in Los Angeles the normal speed of traffic is 40-45 in a 35 zone. With a 50 cc scooter you can hug the gutter and get brushed by cars passing you in your lane, or hog the middle of the lane and cause road rage. Neither option is safe, hence a 50cc scooter is not safe. Heh, there are streets in L.A. where a 150cc scooter will be holding up traffic! A Piaggio Fly 150 lets you keep up or slightly ahead of street traffic, and gives you the option of hopping on the freeway. Not that much more at $2,899 MSRP. (Piaggio is the company that makes Vespa.)
