I have a 49cc/2stroke gas motor scooter….?

Just recently my motor scooters‘ headlights & taillights are very dim…my brake lights and signals plus horn works fine…my question is…could it be the bulbs are fusing out or is it electrical wiring that could be loose? My lights only suppose to come on while the engine is started…but in this case they are very dim..would appreciate if someone could give me some clues…thanks

The lights should be taking power from the battery, and being charged by the engine’s internal alternator. Either the alternator (It’s on the flywheel) has gone bad, or the diode rectifier array had gone bad; not allowing the rectified AC to change to DC for charging the battery.

Rev the engine while looking at the light and see if the lights brighten.
If they do, then you are charging okay, though lights will work with AD or DC. Also, remove the battery while the engine is running and see if the lights still work. If they do and they get brighter then the alternator/charger is working. The battery might need looking at. I don’t suppose you have access to a volt meter.
