Need Help Working on Motor Scooter (Geely)?

I’m working on a motor scooter Geely and where at first it would not start…now it
after charging the battery and raising the idle it was running fine going forward at a certain
speed which must have been not faster than thirty miles an hour…now it’s acting like it’s having
a problem where if I start it and try to move it forward it sputters off. I’ve raised the idle on it..and When I raise it
–so that the back wheel is off the ground it doesn’t stop-but when I put the scooter down and adds
some load to it when I try to move forward it turns off…I have a motorcycle friend
that thinks it might be a leak with one of the air tubes. Is this most likely what is wrong. What tools
are the best tools to fix whatever the problem most likely is? Also, is there a simple motor scooter manual that
covers this topic perhaps? Need an answer please…can’t afford to bring it to the shop. Thanks in advanced for any helpful response.

Input your particular models make and year and do a websearch for “repair manuals” for it. Expect to pay about $30 for a manual-give or take a little, PLUS shipping.

as for tools to fix the problem-that depends on exactly what the problem is. Some problems require specialty tools, most do not, just reading a repair manual and following EXACTLY what the manual says to do. My own guess without seeing your scooter, and reading what you wrote is that you have a fuel system issue-that could be anything from the carb getting too much fuel (you upped the idle 2X) to it having a leak in one of the vacuum lines (requires you replace the damaged line and checking the hose clamps, to a hole in the float to a electrical system problem causing it to misfire underload. Only a proper diagnosis-either you or you take the scooter to someone and pay them to diagnose and fix the problem.
