mini chopper online stores

I’m going to make a mini chopper, and have some questions.?

as a summer project I’m planning on making a mini chopper using a 4hp Briggs & Stratton from an old lawnmower that Im getting from craigslist for free, he says it starts but wont keep running, but I’m in Internal Combustion Engine class in school and I’m pretty sure I just need to clean the air filter and maybe put some gas directly in the cylinder… but I have several questions…

1.I dont have a welder, where can i get one cheap?

2.I dont have a pipe bender, where can I get one cheap?

3.Where can I find a grip throttle? Do I need to purchase online or is there a store that I can get them such as an auto parts store or home depot?

you may be better off using an old dirt bike engine. it would already have it’s clutch and transmission. It does not sound like the class you are in has properly trained you in trouble shooting. I have never heard of putting gas in the cylinder, nor would I recommend it. in the carb. is another thing, but in the cylinder you will just flood it. it would not be the air cleaner or else it would run like it has the choke on. it sounds like it was stored with fuel in it, and has a gummed up carb. you would want to take the carb apart and clean out all of the ports in it. especially the float valve. you may find it easier to just start with an old dirt bike. otherwise you would have to look around and custom assemble the steering, the brakes, and most of your engine components. I think you should start with a 100cc or more and re-build most of the frame. there is way more to a frame than just bent tubing and welds. remember that you will have to have a way to tension the chain (chains can stretch over time.) you will need a clutch and a transmission of some sort.(you won’t be able to lower the RPMs enough just by using a small front sprocket and a large rear sprocket.) And the bike will come with most of the little things you would need, such as a grip throttle (which you can pick up at any shop that sells dirt bike parts.) A cheap welder? wouldn’t recommend it, you would be looking for a used one, but the good ones need a 240V outlet, like you would see for and electric range or dryer, and the fact that countless people burn their houses down because they forget about the half-hour fire watch for welding in wooden buildings. Not to mention the fact that good welding takes a long time to learn. As for a pipe bender, are you talking about a mechanical one, or a manual one that uses a large lever? A good one for strong metal would be way out of your price range.
look around for a steel fabrication shop around your community. If you are realy nice, they may just bend some pipes, or weld a joint for you now and then. (Don’t ask to do it yourself, Steel-toe area, and they realy don’t need you in the way)
