Comet Torque Converter,What Will I Notice?

Hey can you tell me what kind of differences one would notice when going from a centrifugal clutch to a comet torque converter on a mini bike. They are not cheap so I would expect some noticing.Thanks.

A torque converter is a waste of money for something like that. A torque converter is always going to have a large amount of power loss to the drive wheel because its a fluid filled device which means that their is no real connection between the engine and drive wheel. You would notice smoother power delivery and smoother acceleration but at the same time the mini bike would have slower acceleration. I would stick with the centrifugal clutch it has better throttle response and has the ability to better transmit the engine power to the wheels. the down side as you know is sudden engagement if you have stiff clutch springs. If your wondering torque converters in cars do not slip because they are whats known as lock up torque converters they have a solenoid that closes and locks the fluid in the converter so it won’t slip. The torque converter that you are looking into has about the same technology as a automotive converter from a 1970′s era automatic transmission.
